Torsten Thiele
Job title: Head of Telecoms
Torsten is Head of Telecoms, Project and Infrastructure Finance of Investec Bank, the specialist international investment bank. He focuses on advising, arranging and funding telecommunications projects and companies.
From 2001-2006 Torsten was a Senior Director at CIT Group, responsible for Communications Finance, providing capital expenditure and acquisition financing across Europe. From 1998-2000 Torsten was a Director at Bankgesellschaft Berlin, responsible for telecommunications project finance, with a global portfolio of over 60 transactions.
Previously, in roles with Communications Equity Associates, Wasserstein Perella and PHB, Torsten advised corporate clients and public bodies across Europe on strategy and specific transactions. As a Principal Banker at the launch of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Torsten was involved in major privatisations in Russia and Eastern Europe.
Torsten began his financial career at JP Morgan in 1987. He holds an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School as well as degrees in economics and in law from Bonn University.
