Eduardo Durán is the Director of Innovation at Entel, Chile’s largest telecoms company, offering mobile, data, internet, local and long distance telephony services. He is responsible for technology evolution across the organisation and the associated business planning. Entel has been active in the Chilean telecoms market since 1964, initially as a state-owned company but was privatized in 1986. Entel was the first company in Chile to launch a WiMAX network, their WiMAX service was first trailed in 2004 and commercially launched in 2006 and currently has 1500 Enterprise customers across 40 cities and the company is planning to cover 30 additional cities by the end of 2007. Entel also offers Wireless Local Loop services, and has a customer base of 15,000 residential users which they expect to migrate to WiMAX in the future. Entel is currently testing 802.16e and hopes to migrate to mobile WiMAX to develop a mass market consumer play in 2008. Mr. Durán has an MBA from Adolfo Ibañez University.
