Clash of the Titans: How IPR Royalties Will Determine WiMAX vs. LTE IPR used in 802.16e mobile WiMAX is diverse and is expected to result in low IPR royalty structure. But as the standard progresses to 802.16m more overlap of technology has occurred between 3G-LTE. Meanwhile, LTE is shaping up to require licensing from key IPR stakeholders with stated goals that accumulate to several percent. This session looks at how IPR is developing within and between the two camps and how this might affect system and end user device costs and competition.
